The Sunshine House: Breezy Beach Unit!

Location, location, location! The “Breezy Beach” Unit is a first floor private apartment in the Sunshine House, boasting cheerful decor and updated amenities. Guest will enjoy the comfortable queen bed, outdoor fire pit (shared space), and a short walk to the outlet mall, restaurants, parks, and beaches. The kitchen is stocked with all your needs to cook a great meal with family/friends, or walk to nearby restaurants/bars to enjoy all that downtown MC has to offer!
To avoid any confusion, potential guests should thoroughly read ALL information below before requesting to book. (We promise that the info below will better prepare you for your trip and answer 99% of your questions!) Thank you!
--This rental includes a kitchen with a fridge/freezer, sink, stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender & coffee maker. Essentials like plates, cups, cookware, utensils, & paper towel will be provided for your use. Guests can gather around the 4 person table to enjoy each other’s company over a good meal! (Please note that there is not a dishwasher at this property.)
--Along with coffee, creamer and sweetener are provided.
--Cooking spray, olive oil, salt/pepper are provided.
--Small beach toys for kids and a large woven beach towel is provided for each guest.
--Free public parking surrounds this home.
--The bathroom includes a full tub.
--A hair dryer and showering essentials/bath towels are available. Bedroom has clothing storage and hangers. There is also an iron and ironing board.
SLEEPING SET UP:
Breezy Beach sleeps max of 4 people: One bedroom (queen bed) and a living area with futon couch. Mattress provided on the bed is Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattresses.
--A large, flat screen smart TV is hooked up in your living area, though we recommend the outdoors over the tube! ;)
--High Speed Wifi is provided.
--A shared washer/dryer is available for your use.
--The shared outdoor space in the backyard is accessible by going out the sliding glass door in the back bedroom. Outdoor Edison bulb string lights surround a heavy duty wooden picnic table (seats 8), as well as a fire pit with benches surrounding it. Roast a s’more and enjoy! Note that this space is shared with guests in the other two units, so you may see them outside utilizing this area as well.
We welcome guests of all backgrounds! However, due to prior disrespectful renters and property damage, we will only be accepting booking requests from:
--AirBnB users who are "verified" and who already have positive reviews from other hosts.
--Renters that are above the age of 25.
--Renters who are not bringing pets.
--A maximum of four guests per reservation. Extra guests are not allowed. If you have more travelers and would like to rent more than one unit, feel free to click on our profile to see “The Sunshine House: Wild Woodlands Unit” and "The Sunshine House: Scenic Skies Unit.” This will allow you to rent the other private units within the house at the same time, sleeping up to 16 people total.
--We value our relationship with our neighbors, so events/gatherings/parties are not to be held by guests. In order to keep the unit in excellent condition for future guests, we are firm on these rules. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
***Smoking is NOT allowed inside or around the property. If there is any evidence smoking occurred inside or within 50 feet of the property (smoke smell, ashes, paraphernalia, etc) there will be an additional $300 cleaning charge and/or loss of security deposit if one was collected.
***Note that the neighborhood itself is transitional, and while our guests have never had safety issues while staying with us, the area hosts eclectic mix of people: both locals and tourists. The police station is less than a mile away, along with many other popular restaurants and attractions. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to read previous location ratings/reviews from other guests, and/or reach out prior to booking.
***Note that there are train tracks a few blocks away. When a train goes by, you may hear the whistle. Train schedules vary greatly so there is no telling how often you will hear it while vacationing—Many of our guests have said they never heard it, some others say they were bothered by it. We've provided sound makers in each room (and beside the futon) for light sleepers. The vast majority of our guests do not complain of the train, but you are welcome to bring ear plugs for nighttime if you’re a light sleeper or if you’re concerned.
***Note that if you are bringing infants/babies, the unit is NOT baby-proofed. (Furniture is not secured to walls, outlet blockers are not included, cabinets/drawers are not locked, etc.) You assume responsibilities for all guests.
***Note that the lower units may be rented out at the same time, (their ceilings are your floor) so there is potential for noise from other guests.
***Note there are a few steps to enter the front and back of unit.
***NOTE that while the location of this unit is central to many attractions in the area, and many guests have raved about the food and drinks at the bar nextdoor--we have also had guests occasionally note a smoke smell when staying in this unit. While we strictly prohibit smoking of any sort (inside or within 25 feet of the property), the unit's close proximity to the public sidewalk and nextdoor bar has caused some guests to be bothered by the odor. If you have a sensitive nose and/or are bothered by a smoke smell, one of the other two units in this home--Wild Woodlands or Scenic Skies--would likely be a better fit for you. Note that some guests never mention an odor and others find it overpowering. This mostly depends on if smokers are outside at the bar during your stay, the sensitivity of your nose, and the windiness of the weather.
Other things to note
--Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions and a key code for entry on the morning of their scheduled arrival. All of this will be communicated through AirBnB messenger.
--Please note that Michigan City is on Central Standard Time (CST). Check-in is any time between 4-10 PM; you will likely have guests in the unit below you so if arriving late please be very mindful of noise levels; guests must check out by 10 a.m. so that we can clean/prepare for our next renters before they arrive.
--Our cancellation policy is moderate.
Rates & Availability
Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 21 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 7 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 7 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
